While organizations may have advanced learning and development strategies,
mentoring programs, and various systems in place, they must ensure equality for
all employees. There should be no bias when providing these
opportunities—whether an employee is a low performer or a high performer, an
intern or a senior staff member, a permanent employee or a contractor, everyone
should have the chance to learn and grow within the organization.
Biases and unhealthy work environments should be eliminated through a strong
culture of learning and development. The primary goal of L&D should be to
encourage employees to think creatively, treat everyone equally, reduce biases
and racism, and embrace diversity and inclusion. Learning should not be limited
to simply performing assigned tasks correctly.
Organizations should adopt strategies that develop well-rounded individuals
rather than just focusing on performance. Employees should be nurtured into knowledgeable
individuals for the future while pursuing career and professional development.
An organization that supports this approach can be viewed as a healthy work
